Accessibility
Last updated 22 June 2026
Even Footing is for everyone facing the tribunal alone, including people who find legal processes hard to access. Accessibility is a design goal, not an afterthought. This statement explains the commitment and how to tell us about a barrier.
The commitment
Even Footing aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 at level AA. The site is designed for the hardest user to reach, not the average one — because the people most likely to be self-represented are often the people facing the most barriers.
What that means in practice
- Plain English, kept as close to everyday reading level as the subject allows.
- A mobile-first layout that works on a phone, with text that scales.
- Clear structure — one thing per page where possible — so you are never overwhelmed.
- Keyboard navigation and sufficient colour contrast.
- No account needed to read the guides or use the front door.
Work in progress
This is an early build and accessibility is being improved continuously. Some features may not yet fully meet the standard. If something is hard to use, that is useful to know and we want to hear it.
In plain terms
If any part of the site is hard for you to use, please tell us. A barrier you hit is one others will hit too.
Tell us about a barrier
To report an accessibility problem or request information in a different format, use the contact route on the free help page. We will do our best to put it right and to offer the information another way in the meantime.
